Going out with a BANG: King's Day (ft. Kingsland)

Going out with a BANG: King's Day (ft. Kingsland)

The biggest Holiday in the Netherlands is Koninsdag or King's Day, which celebrates the King's Birthday every year. It was formally known as Queen's Day when the country was ruled by a Queen but the current ruler came into power but it become King's Day in 2014 after the inauguration of King Willem-Alexander on April 30th, 2013. Although the name changed, the crazy, orange filled festivities have remained the same. The special holiday festivities invite locals and visitors alike to soak up Holland's parties in the streets, canals, parks, and everywhere in between. The city is bursting with orange and you enjoy the biggest street party of the year.

The Rotterdam Exchange students partied it up 21st century style, at a music festival: Kingsland in Amsterdam. The event featured major DJs such as Don Diablo, W&W, Martin Garrix, Axwell & Ingrosso, and Oliver Heldens. It was a bit of a struggle getting to the venue because Kenneth, Mandy, and I got drunk off 2 bottles of champagne on the train and missed our stopped then walked the wrong direction. We somehow ended up in the middle of nowhere and had to jump a very unstable fence to finally get to the entrance of the event. Then it was even a biggest struggle to find the rest of our crew.

Once we did and got to the stages and started dancing and raging, IT WAS A BLAST!! I had so much fun meeting a huge group of Dutch people and also USC people. We lucked out because it was scheduled to thunderstorm and rain but it didn't. We had really good weather when we were in the outside stage. It was an amazing time with all of my closest friends from exchange. It was the perfect way to end my abroad semester and last few days in Holland.
