Travel Guide: Barcelona, Spain
4 days 3 nights travel guide of Barcelona!
Attractions:
- Free Walking Tour: with Sandeman company. It was an alright tour but maybe it was because I had a newbie so it wasn't as good as it could have been. I've done better ones so if you want, you can skip out on this one.
- La Sagrada Familia
- La pedrera at class mila
- Park Guell: there is normally a line and you have to pay for a ticket to get into the area but if you wait until after 6pm then it's free and anyone can go in without waiting in line.
- La Boqueria: huge market located just off La Rambla (the official address is Rambla, 91 Mercat de la Boqueria) where local vendors sell everything from locally grown fruits and vegetables to locally sourced meats and cheeses.
- Castell de Montjuïc: go up the hill to overlook the entire city (Magic Fountain of Montjuic 9-11pm)
- La Rambla: famous touristy street. It’s a great place to people watch; it’s central, and it is filled with the best street performers in Europe.
- Barri Gotic: This is the name given to the old area of Barcelona, which is filled with windy streets and historic buildings. Spend a few hours getting lost through this area, stumbling upon old buildings, churches, and plazas. The deeper you go into this area, the more local and interesting it becomes.
- Gothic Cathedral: Located in the heart of the Bari Gotic, this Gothic cathedral was built on the top of an 11th-century church. There is a cool cloister in which to walk around. The real highlight of this church is the roof. You can take an elevator up to the top where you can get stunning views of the surrounding area.
- Go to the beach!
- Raval: Barcelona’s old literary district is known as the Raval. It used to have a bit of a dark, edgy feel in the ’20s, but is now filled with businesses and some trendy shops. It’s worth taking a stroll around the area.
- Plaza (new square): Sundays have traditional Catalan dancing
- Plaza de sant felip neri: perfect pitch, a lot of street performers after 6pm
Food/Drinks:
- Tapas and sangria: lots of cute places by Barceloneta and La Rambla (a lot of places will offer 3 tapas and a pitcher of sangria for about 15 euros which is a pretty good deal)
- El Tastet de L'Artur: by sagrada familia $15
- Seafood paella
- Tapa Tapa: by the water
- Chupito
Night Life:
- The night life in Barcelona is pretty amazing! I mean the entire culture is just drink, sleep, and drink some more. You've been buzzed the entire day from drinking sangria with all your meals and then the clubs don't open until 2am so you are guaranteed not to get into bed until 7am.
- Sutton Club
- Opium: most popular touristy club in Barca but it's really fun
- Beach clubs: I didn't get a chance to go when I was in Barca but I heard they're really fun.
Tips:
- Museums are free Sunday's after 3pm
- #2 pick-pocketing city so be careful!
- Lunch start around 2pm and dinner is around 10pm so don't expect to get up early and try to get anything before those times because nothing will be open.
- Siestas are a real thing so everything will be closed between 3-6pm.
