What better to spend a weekend in Belgium than drinking Belgium beer? I discovered my favorite type of beer: Fruit Beer - specifically Sour Cherry Beer (Mort Subite Lambic Beer)! It tasted like juice, soooooo yummy.
There are two types of beers that are specific to Belgium:
- Trappist Beers: beers brewed in a Trappist monastery where the monks is in charge of the production and policies. The profits from the sale must be used to support the monastery or cancer research.
- Lambic Beer: a wheat beer brewed in the southwest of Brussels by spontaneous fermentation; aged up to 3 year. By using this type of beer, fruit flavoring is added to create fruit beers.
