Road Bump - Sheeps Crossing

This was such a unique experience, one that I don't think I would experience anywhere else ever again. We were driving to Mt. Cook and all of a sudden we were stopped by hundreds of sheep in the middle of the road. We were surrounded! We couldn't move or do anything. They were herding them to another location and everyone heading down this path were stopped in their tracks. At first we were just slowly driving but based on how many there were up ahead, we would have been there forever. 

We found out that they were more afraid of humans than cars. We saw another person who was behind us get out of his car to herd the sheep forward. So we did that as well. As soon as they heard, smelt, or saw us they ran away. At some points we were running after them. They jumped over the railings and quickly crossed the road to get away from us. Some of them even ran into the road signs, trampled over one another, and tried climbing through the crowd to get away from us.

It was an amazing sight to see! I could not believe what I saw. This was the true New Zealand experience and I am so glad we were able to encounter it. Definitely one for the books!
